EMU Translation and Interpretation Department Makes a Difference with its Educational Approach

Organised by Eastern Mediterranean University, Arts and Sciences Faculty, Translation and Interpretation Department, 6th “Translation and Interpretation Department Documentary Translation Days” took place at Eastern Mediterranean University.

Final year students of the said department Erdem Arslan, Tuygan Uygur, Sibel Yurtsuz, Afgan Balashlı, Direnç Kuyucu and Nezaket Şadırvan shared their graduation projects on visual-auditory translation with the university community. Held in a workshop format, students provided information to the attendees regarding the visual-auditory translation methods and process.

Visual-auditory translation specialist and project advisor Sen. Inst. Neslihan Binatlı Hekimoğlu stated her happiness in observing the final year students carrying out their graduation projects on deciphering, syncronisation and sub-title translation of documentaries, which is an indicator of the high quality education they have been offered for the past 4 years. Sen. Inst. Neslihan Binatlı Hekimoğlu also added that Documentary Days have been introduced by the department with the purpose of supporting students’ professional and personal development. Sen. Inst. Hekimoğlu stated that documentaries translated by the said students are the indicators of their readiness for their prospective professions.
