EMU to Host the 5th Mediterranean Tourism Symposium

Having been organised by regional universities since 2011, the 5th Eastern Mediterranean Tourism Symposium will take place under the theme of "Special Interest Tourism" in Cyprus under the auspices of Eastern Mediterranean University Tourism Faculty between 22 and 23 April 2016.  The symposium aims to create a platform for information exchange regarding the tourism related issues within the provinces of the Republic of Turkey which form the Eastern Mediterranean region as well as the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. Hosting the representatives of both state and private sector, the event will provide solutions to problems acting as a barrier in the effective use of tourism potential and, at the same time, look for ways of collaboration and power sharing in all tourism related subjects. 

The official opening of the said event will take place at Salamis Bay Conti Resort Hotel at 9:30 a.m. on  22 April 2016 followed by the presentations of  Prof. Dr. Doğan GÜRSOY from Washington State University, Prof. Dr. Levent ALTINAY from Oxford Brookes University, Prof. Dr. Orhan İÇÖZ from Yaşar University and  the 1st Eastern Mediterranean Tourism Symposium Executive Board Chair Prof. Dr. Ahmet AKTAŞ. Over 50 presentations will be delivered during the symposium which will be participated by different interest groups from the TRNC.

The symposium will take place in collaboration with TRNC Ministry of Tourism, Cyprus Turkish Hoteliers Association, Cyprus Turkish Travel Agencies Association, Cyprus Turkish Tourist Guides Association, Cyprus Turkish Restaurateurs Association, and many other non-governmental organisations.
