EMU to Compete in Villeroy & Boch Culinary World Cup

Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality, Department of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts Faculty Member and Expert Pastry Chef Pınar Barut will represent Eastern Mediterranean University once again in the international arena. Barut will represent EMU at Villeroy & Boch world culinary and pastry world cup. The competition, which is a quadrennial organisation, will take place between 24 and 28 November 2018 in Luxemburg with the participation of many teams/individuals from 5 continents and 75 countries.

A keen competition in the culinary and pastry fields is expected to take place between these teams and individuals during the Villeroy & Boch Culinary World Cup. EMU Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Dean Prof. Dr. Hasan Kılıç included the following in his statement: “Despite her first-time representing our country, as we take her former success in international competitions as a reference, we are quite confident that Barut will set a higher standard during the competition. As Barut has an official jury certificate from the World Association of Chefs’ Societies (WACS) in the pastry field and a competitive personality, it does not come as a surprise that she is entrusted with a jury duty during the pastry competitions. Since this is a first for our country, it will be a success bringing a lot of pride”.

Besides her duties as a contestant and a juror, Barut is expected to spend her remaining time attending gastronomy workshops and conferences to exchange opinions on the new improvements and latest trends; and to take constructive steps towards different collaborations.
