EMU Students: “We Are Advocates of Children’s Rights”

Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Education Faculty, Pre-School Education Program students paid a visit to SOS Children’s Village Nursery School.

EMU Education Faculty, Department of Elementary Education, Pre-School Education Program 4th year students visited SOS Children’s Village Nursery School within the scope of “Children’s Rights” course, OOEG 450, run by academic staff member Rahme Kavaz. Students were welcomed by SOS Children’s Village National Director Refika İnce and works of SOS Children’s Village were introduced to the students during their visit. After the speech of National Director Refika İnce, EMU students received detailed information on the philosophy and functioning of the nursery school, education programs, equipment and practices of the Principal of the Nursery School Ebru Efendi. Students of the said nursery school demonstrated great interest towards the teacher candidates of EMU Pre-School Education Program.

Teacher candidates were very excited and happy during the event that was organized with respect to the 20th of November, World Children’s Rights Day. Students stated that their awareness on “children’s rights advocacy” has been strengthened and being in an interactive school environment with children, motivated them.
