Organised under the sponsorship and coordination of Eastern Mediterranean University Employees’ Cooperative in collaboration with EMU Sports Affairs Directorate, a futsal tournament taking place with the involvement of university staff between 9 and 13 November 2015 finished with final matches.
Organised with the purpose of increasing the social interaction between university employees, the tournament hosted teams from EMU Rector’s Office, Arts and Sciences Faculty, Computer Center Directorate, Sports Affairs Directorate, Environmental Affairs Directorate, Technical Affairs Directorate, Purchasing and Inventory Control Directorate, and Security Affairs Directorate.
The finals took place between the teams of the Security Affairs Directorate and Sports Affairs Directorate. The Security Affairs Directorate became the champion of the tournament with a score of 4-0. Awards won by the first three teams were presented to the teams by EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Necdet Osam, EMU-COOP Co-chair Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hamit Caner, EMU-COOP Executive Board Members Hasan Kavaz and Buğu Sümen Cohar.
During the award ceremony, EMU-COOP General Secretary Hüseyin Tabur presented a plaque of appreciation to Vice Rector for Student Affairs Prof. Dr. Hıfsiye Pulhan for her contributions and support to the event. It is worth mentioning that the Technical Affairs Directorate team received the most gentleman team award.
At the end of the ceremony Prof. Dr. Osam highlighted the important role of social activities in enhancing bonds between staff members and expressed his appreciation and gratitude for an organisation as such.
