EMU Signs a Collaboration Protocol with North Cyprus Young Businessmen Association

Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) signed a collaboration protocol with the North Cyprus Young Businessmen Association (GIAD). The said protocol was signed on Monday, 2 June 2025 at 02:00 p.m. at the EMU Rector’s Office building where EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Kılıç and Chair of GIAD Yusuf Tekin signed the protocol on behalf of their institutions.

 

Present during the signing session were; EMU Vice Rector for Academic Affairs Prof. Dr. Osman M. Karatepe, General Secretary Derviş Ekşici, Faculty of Engineering academic staff member and Technology Competitions and Project Coordinator Assoc. Prof. Dr. Davut Solyalı, Faculty of Economics academic staff member and Board of Trustees (VYK) Financial and Economic Affairs Advisor Assoc. Prof. Dr. Murat Kayacan, Deputy Chairperson of GIAD Turgut Deniz and GIAD officials, Prof. dr. Mehmet Başar and Ufuk Batum.

 

Making remarks during the signing session, EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Kılıç stated that EMU not only focuses on education and teaching but also actively engages in community service, remaining ready to support societal needs at all times. Prof. Dr. Kılıç pointed out that the upcoming collaboration protocol with GIAD, a key institution in the country, will play a vital role in advancing the sector as well as enhancing the university’s contributions to it. Highlighting the importance of involving young entrepreneurs with the university, Prof. Dr. Kılıç emphasized that this collaboration will create new opportunities for young people and establish a valuable model. He wished for the agreement to be fruitful for both organizations.

 

In his speech, GIAD Chairperson Yusuf Tekin underlined that they act with a sense of social responsibility towards young people and expressed great pride in collaborating with EMU, one of the country’s most established universities. Tekin wished the protocol, which involves mutual sharing of knowledge and experience, to be beneficial.
