EMU-SCT Visits Dr. Fazıl Küçük Vocational High School of Industry

The Eastern Mediterranean University School of Computing and Technology (EMU-SCT) carried out a visit to the Dr. Fazıl Küçük Vocational High School of Industry to increase collaboration in vocational education between the schools as well as to provide information to students.

During the visit, EMU-SCT Director Prof. Dr. Mustafa İlkan delivered a presentation titled “Possibilities, Opportunities and Guidance in Vocational Education”. In the said presentation Prof. Dr. İlkan emphasized the importance of vocational education and relayed future projections. Expressing the possibilities, opportunities and advantages provided by EMU-SCT, Prof. Dr. İlkan indicated that vocational high school graduates can register for the 2 year program without entering an exam and receive government scholarship as part of the “Developing Vocational Education” project. Noting that studying with a scholarship is an important advantage, Prof. Dr. İlkan underlined that there is a certain level of success that must be attained for scholarships to continue until graduation. Touching upon the importance of students making well informed decision regarding their field and university, Prof. Dr. İlkan stated that all vocational, industrial vocational and trade high schools are sister schools of EMU-SCT that operate with the same goals. Prof. Dr. İlkan concluded by wishing students, teachers and school management the best of luck in their endeavors.

Dr. Fazıl Küçük Vocational High School of Industry officials also highlighted the importance of collaboration. Indicating that they are very pleased to be collaborating with EMU to improve vocational education in the country as to bring it to the desired level they added that they will be creating new workspaces in the upcoming period. They also expressed their pleasure regarding the agreement with EMU-SCT that allows Dr. Fazıl Küçük Vocational High School of Industry students to make use of EMU-SCT laboratory facilities. Electrical and Electronics Technology and Biomedical Equipment Technology Program Coordinator Asst. Prof. Dr. Alper Doğanalp and Construction Technology and Mapping and Cadastral Survey Program Coordinator Asst. Prof. Dr. Ece Çelik provided information and answered questions about their respective programs. Computer Programming Coordinator Akile Oday also provided extensive information on the Computer Programming department.
