EMU Represented in 9th EESTEC Chairpersons’ Meeting

Eastern Mediterranean University EESTEC-LC (Electrical Engineering Students’ European Association - Local Committee) Famagusta has been successfully representing our university following the achievement of the full membership status in 2008.

Following the successful representation of our university in 28th EESTEC Congress in Athens, Greece,

EMU Engineering Faculty Information Systems Engineering 3rd year student Toğrul Abbasov represented EMU and TRNC in 9th EECTEC Chairpersons’ Meeting – ECM which was organised by EESTEC LC Banja Luka.

EESTEC Chairpersons’ Meeting (ECM) is the second biggest event of EESTEC, which was established with the purpose of contributing to the development of technical and personal skills of its members as well as helping the members to explore different cultures.. The main focus of ECM is to strengthen the local chapters by educating board members via trainings and information exchange as well as to improve the international awareness and involvement of the members.

ECM participants took part in various sessions focusing on project management for the improvement of international relations, budget planning and strategic planning. On the 3rd day of the event, a one-day fair entitled ‘Open Day’ the goal of which was to connect students and their potential future employers was organized by EESTEC LC Banja Luka. During the organisation, students had a chance to talk to the various company representatives and learnt more about jobs, internships and scholarships they are offering. Participants of the ECM  had their information stands where the locals learnt more about their cities or universities. During the fair where EMU was represented by Toğrul Abbasov, participants received information about the university and academic programs.

What is EESTEC?

The Electrical Engineering Students European Association (EESTEC) is a non-political, non-profit organization of and for Electrical Engineering and Computer Science students at universities, institutes and technical schools in Europe awarding an engineering degree. Established in Eindhoven in 1986, EESTEC is one of the biggest organizations of the world with over 6000 members in 60 cities and 28 countries.  The aim is to promote and develop international contacts and the exchange of ideas among the students of EECS. The association achieves its aim through improving social talents and technical knowledge of EECS students, introducing them to the industry and the educational system of other countries as well as providing opportunities for internship.

Operating in collaboration with EMU Electrical and Electronic Engineering Department, Social and Cultural Activities Directorate and EMU International Office, EESTEC – LC Famagusta is one of the 39 committees of EESTEC and has the sole representation within the region.
