EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Necdet Osam received the chair and vice chair of the Association of Muratağa - Atlılar – Sandallar Martyrs (MASDER) on 14 April 2015.
During their visit, chair of MASDER Ahmet Aşır and Vice Chair Hüseyin Güler discussed with Prof. Dr. Osam the possibility of building a mausoleum at Muratağa, Atlılar and Sandallar region, which requires a collaboration with EMU Architecture Faculty.
Prof. Dr. Osam stated that Eastern Mediterranean University would be more than happy to collaborate with MASDER in the aforesaid project. Prof. Dr. Osam put forth the possibility of choosing the best project for the mausoleum through a competition to be organised by Eastern Mediterranean University Architecture Faculty.
Prof. Dr. Osam said that “May our martyrs sleep in peace. This is our duty”. Prof. Dr. Osam also stated the university’s willingness in taking part in projects as such and thanked MASDER representatives for their visit. Expressing his belief that EMU Architecture Faculty will contribute to the construction of the mausoleum with their best efforts, Ahmet Aşır presented Prof. Dr. Osam a book entitled “Step by Step Genocide”.
