EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Aykut Hocanın’s 14 March Medicine Day Message

Eastern Mediterranean University Rector Prof. Dr. Aykut Hocanın released a message on 14 March Medicine Day. Prof. Dr. Hocanın’s message reads as follows:

Health is undoubtedly the most important asset in life. When there is no health, everything else loses its meaning. The purpose of medicine is to work for people to lead a healthier, happier and higher quality life. In recent years, new methods have been found in the field of medicine for the diagnosis and treatment of diseases, and great progress has been made in prolonging human life and increasing its quality. The achievements of scientists working in the field of medicine as a result of their work for the whole humanity by adding their nights to their days, sacrificing from their private lives and the time they spend with their families, have made human life better and allowed people to live happier and healthier.

During the difficult ongoing pandemic process that started two years ago, we have better understood the value of our doctors and healthcare professionals who work hard day and night, making great sacrifices, to protect our health, which is the most important value in life. In this process, we extend our gratitude to our physicians and healthcare workers who are selflessly fighting against the pandemic and other health problems away from their families to protect our health. On March 14, Medicine Day, I extend my best wishes and appreciation to all our doctors and healthcare professionals who carry out this respected and honorable profession with great devotion.”
