EMU Receives TSE Occupational Health and Safety Certification

Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) received the Turkish Standards Institute’s (TSE) ‘OHSAS 18001 Occupational Health and Safety’ certification. TSE Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Director Ahmet Kemal Kızıltan, visited EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Necdet Osam and presented him with the ‘OHSAS 18001 Occupational Health and Safety’ certificate.

During the visit that took place on February 18th, 2019, Monday at 10:00, EMU Vice Rector for International Affairs and Promotion Prof Dr. Cem Tanova, EMU Total Quality Management Inspection Center Director Hasan Kavaz and EMU Public Relations and Press Office Acting Director Murat Aktuğralı were present.

First University in TRNC

During the meeting, Kızıltan said that after the nine-day inspection conducted by TSE, EMU has earned the right to receive the ‘OHSAS 18001 Occupational Health and Safety’ certification, which officially proves EMU’s high-standard quality once again. Kızıltan stated that EMU is the first university in TRNC to be certified in occupational health and safety and congratulated EMU for its current success.

New Goal is to Receive the Environment Management System Certification

Prof. Dr. Osam stated their happiness in receiving this quality certification and mentioned that since 2015, EMU has received certifications for ISO 9002015 Quality Management System and ISO 10002014 Student Satisfaction Management System. Prof. Dr. Osam underlined that EMU continues to demonstrate its high quality standards with the ‘OHSAS 18001 Occupational Health and Safety’ certification; and now, their goal is to receive the ISO 14001 : 2004 Environment Management System certification.
