EMU Public Relations and Advertising Department Promotes Brands in the Scope of “Domestic Goods Week”

Genesis Agency, operating under the Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Faculty of Communication, Public Relations and Advertising Department, under the supervision of Department Chair Prof. Dr. Anıl Kemal Kaya and the coordination of Research Assistant Mürüde Özen, has introduced another meaningful event. As part of the Domestic Goods Week, a large number of domestic products were promoted at an event held at EMU Faculty of Communication on Wednesday, 15 December 2021. Establishments of locally produced brands including Minder, Ekor, Zorlu Food, Oza Kahve, and Ateş Kuruyemiş supported the event as sponsors at the stands set up for the promotion of local products pertaining to Cyprus. During the event, where EMU students tasted local products and gained information about them, the most popular products were ‘çitlenbikli peksemet’ (crackers with hackberry seeds), halloumi, coffee, ‘gatmer’ (flaky pastry), mixed deluxe snacks and çakistes (cracked green olives).

“We Thank EMU”

Oza Kahve Director Ergün Oza, who attended the event in person, stated that they are pleased to be participating in such an event, that it was a very good event despite the bad weather conditions and that they always supported such events as Oza Kahve. Zorlu Food Director, Atakan Zorlu, stated that such events are important for increasing the awareness towards local brands and that they are open to cooperation in similar events that may be held in the future, and thanked EMU Communication Faculty, Public Relations and Advertising Department for this initiative.

Collaboration with Local Brands will Continue

Dean of the Faculty of Communication Prof. Dr. Senih Çavuşoğlu drew attention to the importance of promoting Turkish Cypriot local products and emphasized that there should be cooperation in all areas of communication with our domestic brands and that this mutual support and solidarity will increasingly continue in the upcoming period. EMU Communication Faculty, Public Relations and Advertising Department Chair Prof. Dr. Anıl Kemal Kaya, on the other hand, gave the good news that it is important to introduce EMU students to local products, but that the event, which was limited to Famagusta brands due to the pandemic, will be held in a way that will include all local brands throughout the island in the coming days.
