Eastern Mediterranean University, Arts and Sciences Faculty, Psychology Department has been awarded the accreditation of the Turkish Psychological Association following the evaluations of the Accreditation Higher Board of the same association.
With the awarding of the said accreditation, EMU Psychology Department has become the first department receiving an accrediation as such within the TRNC. It is worth mentioning that EMU Psychology Department is the 8th department holding the said accreditation within Turkey. Along with Eastern Mediterranean University, Hacettepe University, Ankara University, Boğaziçi University, Koç University, Ege University and Middle East Technical University have been accredited by the Turkish Psychology Association.
The Turkish Psychology Association has been carrying out its operations since 1956. The Association is a member of the International Union of Psychological Science (IUPsyS) and the European Federation of Psychologists' Associations (EFPA). The same association also boasts memberships in EFPA’s sub-committees and working groups including Psychology in Education and Disaster and Crisis Psychology. The Turkish Psychological Association also works in collaboration with the American Psychiatric Association.
The Turkish Psychological Association also publishes SSCI-indexed ‘Turkish Journal of Psychology’ and received the award of the Turkish Academy of Sciences for having the quality of being the only Turkish journal indexed by SSCI.
The Turkish Psychological Association has been authorised by the Turkish Board of Higher Education (YÖK) to act as an accrediting body for the psychology undergraduate programs within Turkey. The accreditation criteria employed by the Turkish Psychological Association is parallel with EFPA’s educational criteria for the European Psychology Certification.
