EMU Pharmacy Faculty is Ready for The New Academic Year

The Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Pharmacy Faculty and its strong team of academic staff are ready for the 2019-2020 Academic Year. The English-medium faculty which was established in the 2011-2012 Academic Year currently has more than 1000 students and 100 graduates. The faculty offers a 10 semester B. Pharm Program and a 12 semester Pharm. D Program. It trains qualified pharmacists and scientists, who have conceived the principles and ethical concepts of the pharmacy profession, can provide medical advice, are equipped at a top international level and peruse the latest scientific and technological progress in their profession.

Using the Latest Technology

The EMU Pharmacy Faculty contributes to scientific research in the field at international and regional levels. It possesses the accumulation of knowledge required to work in the international drug industry and the other branches of the profession. The Pharmacy Faculty is proud to be the first faculty in Cyprus and second in Turkey to be accepted as an academic member of the International Pharmacy Federation (FIP). Its student laboratories are equipped with the latest technological and educational infrastructure necessary for pharmaceutical sciences. The faculty is also represented at the ''International Pharmaceutical Students' Federation'' (IPSF) which offers students the chance to gain experience in the field of pharmacy abroad as a result of Student Exchange Programmes. As a result of these programs the EMU Pharmacy Faculty also hosts pharmacy students from around the world. In addition, EMU Pharmacy students are delegates of the Turkish Pharmacists’ Association (TEB) Youth Commission.

All laboratories of the EMU Pharmacy Faculty have smart boards and a medicinal and aromatic plant garden is arranged in front of the Faculty building for studies in Pharmaceutical Botany and Pharmacognosy. The laboratory facilities are competent for higher levels of research and, despite its recent establishment, the Faculty of Pharmacy has published approximately 82 scientific papers in well renowned journals recognized by the Science Citation Index (SCI). With students from 37 countries, the Faculty of Pharmacy takes pride in having a multinational student profile and offers an international atmosphere for students to socialize easily. Each year, May 14th - "Pharmacists Day" is celebrated by focusing on a special theme. During "Career Days" students come together with exclusive guests from the pharmaceutical and cosmetics industries. Fruitful discussion regarding future career opportunities take place. EMU Pharmacy Faculty Dean Prof. Dr. Mustafa Fethi Şahin stated that their graduates are working all over the world to contribute to humanity whilst relaying his belief that all of their graduates will be very good pharmacists.
