EMU Özay Oral Library Organised A Seminar On SciFinder Database

Eastern Mediterranean University Özay Oral Library is now offering its users the services of world renowned SciFinder Database. In this respect, the Library Directorate organised a training seminar at Mustafa Afşin Ersoy Hall between 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. on 24 October 2015.  The seminar was delivered by Dr. Görkem Mergen from Techknowledge Firm, SciFinder’s representative of Turkey.   

Developed by the Chemical Abstracts Service (CAS), a division of the American Chemical Society, SciFinder is a research discovery application that provides unlimited access to the world's most comprehensive and authoritative source of references, substances and reactions in chemistry and related fields including biology, chemistry engineering, material engineering, physics, pharmacy, medicine and so forth.

SciFinder is a comprehensive program that can be used by researches conducting research in chemistry and related sciences such as biology, physics, chemical engineering, environmental engineering, food engineering, polymer engineering, material and metallurgy engineering, pharmacology, nanotechnology, textile engineering, energy systems engineering, biomedical engineering, agricultural engineering and geological engineering.

Targeted towards students and researchers carrying out research the fields of Pharmacy and Chemistry in EMU, SciFinder Database contains over 10,500 academic journals. The said database also provides access to 63 patent authorities, and contains information on over 102 million organic and inorganic materials, over 66 million biological sequences, over 71 million reactions and over 72 million product registry. Additionally, the said database provides convenient access to millions of H- and C- NMR spectra and mass spectra archives.

The seminar attracted a crowded group of students and academic staff members both from Pharmacy Faculty and Chemistry Department. At the end of the seminar, participants received certificates from the Library Director Osman Soykan.
