EMU Nursing Department’s Training Courses Towards Healthcare Professionals Continue

Within the cooperation of Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Health Sciences Faculty, Nursing Department and Cyprus Turkish Nurses and Midwives Association, a training course titled “Current Approaches towards Health Professionals Working in Primary Care Units” was organized at Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital Thalassemia Conference Hall. The coordinators of the 3-day long training was EMU Health Sciences Faculty, Nursing Department Faculty Member Prof. Dr. Hatice Bebiş, Director of the Cyprus Turkish Nurses and Midwives Association Ali Özgöçmen and Training Unit Supervisors Assist. Prof. Dr. Mine Bahçeci and Specialist Nurse Demet Erol.

35 Nurses Participated 

Total of 35 nurses who work in Hospitals and Primary Health Care Units across the TRNC attended the training course, where current approaches to the most common problems faced by health professionals working in primary health care units in protecting and improving the health of the individual, family and society, and preventing diseases were discussed, and which aimed at increasing the individual professional development and service quality of nurses. Courses which was held on the first day of the training was: “Community Recognition Principles and the Importance of Home Visits for Nurses in the Primary Care Units” by EMU Nursing Department faculty member Sinem Dağ, “Nurses’ Communication with Patient and Management of Difficult Patients” by research assistant Mert Hızlıoğluları, “New Approaches for the Development, Protection and Sustainability of Children’s, Women’s and Elder’s Health” by faculty member Meltem Altınışık, “Current Approaches to Prevent Accidents and Injuries at Home” by faculty member Dilek Karaoğlan Gülevi and “Nurses’ Role and Responsibilities in Early Diagnosis and Screening Implemented in Society” by academic staff member Prof. Dr. Hatice Bebiş.

Participation Certificates were presented

On the second day of the event, academic staff member Assist. Prof. Dr. Arzu Abiç delivered a course titled “Mother-Child Health and Follow-up, Current Approaches in Reproductive Health, FP Planning Practices in Primary Care” and research assistant Meryem Akgün delivered a training on “Current Approaches to Immunization and Vaccination in Children”. Moreover, “Current Approaches in Nursing Care for Aging, Determination of Home Patient Care Needs” training was given by Specialist Nurse Nazmiye Kızılkaya on the third day of the training sessions. Participant were presented with certificates of participation at the end of the trainings.
