EMU is a Brand in Social Media Training

Eastern Mediterranean University, Institutional Communication and Social Media Unit has become a brand in the TRNC. Having the unique quality of being the first social media unit within the TRNC, EMU Institutional Communication and Social Media Unit sets a sample for the most effective use of the digital platform. The said unit also provides consultancy services to a considerable number of organisations, institutions, municipalities, non-governmental organisations, political parties and private sector via EMU Continuing Education Center.

Coordinator of EMU Institutional Communication and Social Media Unit Raziye Nevzat provided information about one of their recent social media and brand management training projects which was financed by the Republic of Turkey and targeted towards the members of the Cyprus Turkish Chamber of Industry in August. Nevzat added that EMU Institutional Communication and Social Media Unit was preferred for the aforesaid training which was conducted with the aim of strengthening the institutional infrastructure of firms in the industrial sector in the TRNC as well as making domestic products more competitive by increasing their quality level.

Putting forth that they are intensively involved in training and consultancy services, Nevzat also added that they will be delivering another training session with the Information Department of the Ministry of External Affairs on 1 October 2015. Nevzat stated that the training will focus on increasing the information flow of the aforesaid unit through social media.

Nevzat added that they have been carrying out research regarding the social media user profile within North Cyprus and in this respect, information on the demographic structure has been obtained through surveys conducted within the country. Adding that comparative research on bi-communal user structure is also available, Nevzat stated that social media’s effect on political involvement and communal actions is also a point of interest for them.
