EMU Interior Architecture Department Carries Out Measured Planning Projects on Historical Buildings

Within the framework of ITAS 206 and INAR 206 courses delivered by Eastern Mediterranean University Architecture Faculty, Interior Architecture Department, program students visited historical sites in Mormenekşe village under the supervision of their instructors.

The first historical place analysed was a carpenter’s workshop, formerly used as a coffee shop, made of mudbricks. The second place visited was the historical Ayios Georgios church. During the first phase of the visit, the buildings in question were measured and detailed plans were drawn.

Within the framework of the aforementioned courses, measured drawing projects were conducted on various historical buildings both within Famagusta Walled City and other villages. Measured planning projects carried out on historical buildings not only raise awareness regarding the historical environment but also actively involve the students in the areas of environmental protection and sustainability.
