Eastern Mediterranean University hosted President of the Turkish Higher Education Council (YÖK) Prof. Dr. M. A. Yekta Saraç, YÖK members Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Demir and Prof. Dr. İzzet Özgenç, Justice and Development Party Deputy İsrafil Kışla and Rector of Marmara University Prof. Dr. M. Emin Arat on 15 June 2015.
Having been welcomed by EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Necdet Osam and members of the higher administration of EMU, the visiting group paid visits of courtesy to the President of the TRNC Mustafa Akıncı, Prime Minister Özkan Yorgancıoğlu, Former President of the TRNC Mehmet Ali Talat and TRNC Minister of Education Dr. Özdemir Berova.
President of the Turkish Higher Education Council Prof. Dr. Saraç and the visiting team of officials, Famagusta Mayor and President of the Board of Trustees İsmail Arter, and all rectors of the universities inTRNC attended a lunch organised by EMU at EMU Beach Club. During the organisation, Prof. Dr. Saraç thanked EMU officials for their hospitality and expressed the importance of all universities within TRNC for the Turkish Higher Education Council. Prof. Dr. Saraç also stated their intention to organise solution-oriented meetings with the universities within TRNC twice a year. In this respect, Prof. Dr. Saraç put forth that they are planning to hold a meeting serving for this purpose in Ankara in the near future. EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Necdet Osam expressed the university’s pleasure in hosting Prof. Dr. Saraç and other officials and thanked the visiting team for taking time to exchange information with them on various subjects despite time limitations.
At the end of the organisation, EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Osam presented Prof. Dr. Saraç a plate and a frame made of silk cocoon.
