EMU Health Sciences Faculty and School of Health Services Welcomed Their New Students

Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Faculty of Health Sciences and School of Health Services organized a ceremony for the new students to receive training at the faculty during the 2024-2025 Academic Year Fall Semester.

 

Held at the EMU Health Sciences Faculty, Champion Angels Amphitheater at 10:00 a.m., the ceremony was attended by EMU Vice Rector for Academic Affairs Prof. Dr. Osman M. Karatepe, Vice Rector for Promotion and Institutional Communication Prof. Dr. Ali Öztüren, Dean of the Health Sciences Faculty Prof. Dr. Mehtap Malkoç, Department Chairs, faculty members, students and their families.

“EMU is a Great Opportunity for You”

Following the observation of A Minute of Silence and National Anthem, the ceremony continued with the opening speeches. The Dean of Faculty of Health Sciences Prof. Dr. Malkoç commenced her speech by welcoming the new students of EMU Health Sciences Faculty and School of Health Services who will receive training there during the new academic semester. Addressing the students enrolled at EMU, which is recognized as one of the leading universities in both the TRNC and Turkey in terms of academics and facilities, Prof. Dr. Malkoç remarked, “Pursuing your education at EMU presents a fantastic opportunity. I commend you for selecting EMU and the Faculty of Health Sciences. The fulfillment you will experience throughout your life will bring you happiness”. Prof. Dr. Malkoç shared comprehensive insights into the mission and vision of the Faculty of Health Sciences and discussed the faculty’s objectives with the students. Moreover, Prof. Dr. Malkoç provided information about the faculty’s academic staff, highlighting that students can readily reach out to faculty members if they face any challenges. Wishing all students a prosperous academic semester, Prof. Dr. Malkoç conveyed her best wishes for their future academic endeavors.

Welcoming the new students of the faculty, EMU Vice Rector for Academic Affairs Prof. Dr. Karatepe expressed that, as the first and only state university established by law in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, EMU guided by the motto ‘knowledge, science, wisdom, and the future’, provides its students with world-class education and research opportunities on a global scale while standing at the forefront of higher education in the region and the country. Prof. Dr. Karatepe also stated that, over the past 45 years, EMU has grown into a renowned global institution with 12 faculties and 4 schools. Stressing that EMU has created a legacy of success, including accreditations, international collaborations, memberships, academic achievements, and a wide range of cultural and social activities, Prof. Dr. Karatepe underscored that EMU has significantly increased its investments in the healthcare sector since 2009. Conveying his belief that it is time for the Health Sciences Faculty to show its face in the field of research, Prof. Dr. Karatepe hoped that the faculty would be listed in the Shanghai Rankings for at least one of its programs. Addressing the students, Prof. Dr. Karatepe said, “You, who will carry the responsibility and privilege of working in the healthcare sector, should never forget the profound significance of impacting human lives. Compassion, patience, attentiveness, and a deep love for humanity are at the heart of healthcare services. I encourage you to embrace these values as your guiding principles throughout your education and career. I wish you all great success in the 2024 – 2025 Acadeic Year”.
