Eastern Mediterranean University, Tourism Faculty, Gastronomy and Culinary Arts Department is getting ready to participate in the 14th International Istanbul Gastronomy Days taking place between 11 and 14 February 2016. EMU Tourism Faculty academic staff member and Food Production Coordinator Kurtuluş Özbaşar, chef, cademic staff member Hakan Açıl and students of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts Department Gamze Kural, Cem Mengüllüoğlu and Sude Karşılı will be competing in the said festival under “The Best University of the Year” category. EMU Tourism Faculty Acting Dean Prof. Dr. Hasan Kılıç stated the faculty’s confidence in the team participating in the said event.
Prof. Dr. Kılıç added that within the framework of the festival, academic staff member Özbaşar and chef Açıl will initiate the procedures for the institutional membership of EMU Gastronomy and Culinary Arts Department in the World Association of Chefs Societies (WACS).
Prof. Dr. Kılıç put forth that the participating academic staff members will also attend the “International Jury Course” to be delivered by the Chair of the World Association of Chefs Societies Gert Klötzke.
During the previous days, students of EMU Gastronomy and Culinary Arts Department participated in the 8th International Golden Toque University Chefs Contest and were awarded a silver medal for the second place.
