EMU-FLEPS Visits Karpaz Region

The Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Foreign Languages and English Preparatory School (FLEPS) carried out its customary culture trip by travelling to the Karpaz region. The trip was attended by academic staff and students of the “Introduction to Multicultural Education” university elective which is delivered in both Turkish and English. The 140 students who went on the trip with academic staff members Ayşe Onut and Fatma Galatyalı firstly visited the Iskele Culture House before moving on to the Karpaz region where they had the opportunity to view and photograph its historical and natural beauty.

At the end of the trip the students thanked their academicians, stating that the beauty of the world lies the in diversity of its people and that we all smile in the same language.

Meanwhile, within the scope of the “Environment and Nature” themed ‘Rainbow’ project, Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Foreign Languages and Preparatory School (FLEPS) students carried out their first observatory trip of the 2018-2019 Spring Semester to Taşkent. The trip was organized by EMU-FLEPS ‘Civic Involvement Projects” Team Leader Academic Staff Member Mehşen Ercanlar and took place under the leadership of Academic Staff Members Şerife Hocanın Aşıksoy, Dilem Köylüoğlu and Refika İlkan Özer.

Nature Walk Took Place

During the trip, the students visited the Taşkent region and planted trees before embarking on a nature walk to increase environmental awareness and the love of nature. Finally, the group visited the Wild Animals Rehabilitation Center founded in Taşkent by Kemal Basat. The professional team of the Center which is the only one of its kind in the TRNC and Turkey provided information about its goals and activities. After visiting the Center, the students emphasized that their awareness and sensitivity towards all animals increased.
