Within the framework of the “International Career Week”, Eastern Mediterranean University Communication and Media Studies Faculty hosted internet commercial expert Serhat Bayrak, who delivered a presentation on “Digital Career”.
At the beginning of his presentation, Bayrak stated that Google, F5 Networks and Facebook are the most preferred firms for those who wish to work in the digital world. Adding that these firms are famous for high wages and career opportunities, Bayrak put forth that these companies have made serious investments in the digital world. Bayrak stated that in 2014, 1 billion 409 million TL has been invested in the digital sector. Majority of this investment has been spent on digital advertising. Stating that a sector as such was non-existent 20 years ago, Bayrak added that may be there will be no such sector after 20 years since the digital world is a fast changing environment.
Bayrak also recommended all those who would like to work in the digital sector to be dynamic and open to changes, to focus only on one field and develop themselves accordingly. Bayrak also stressed the importance of having information in other areas.
Bayrak also talked about the importance of self-development. Towards the end of his presentation, Bayrak added that there are many choices in the digital world and the path towards success will be paved by discovering one’s weaknesses and tackling them, establishing communication with the firms that are relevant to one’s area of choice, and, last but not least, bringing ideas into life. Bayrak concluded his presentation by saying, “Follow your dreams and never give up”.
At the end of his presentation, Serhat Bayrak was presented a plaque of appreciation by EMU FCMS academic staff member Assist. Prof. Dr. Aysu Arsoy.
Who is Serhat Bayrak?
Serhat Bayrak was born in İzmir in 1987 and is a graduate of Dokuz Eylül University, Electrical and Electronic Department. Bayrak also holds a degree from Anadolu University and advanced level certificates in video commercials, Google advertisements, commercial analysis and reporting. As an expert on Google advertising, Serhat Bayrak is currently employed at a firm operating in this area.
