EMU Faculty of Tourism Organised an Event Titled “Let’s Discover Northern Cyprus”

As part of the 23rd Tourism Days, Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Faculty of Tourism organized an event titled “Let's Discover Northern Cyprus”. In order to embrace the historical and natural beauties unique to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), students studying at EMU visited the regions of Nicosia, Kyrenia, Famagusta, Güzelyurt and Lefke.

In scope of the trip attended by students from different countries including Gambia, South Africa, Pakistan, Palestine, Uganda, Oman, Iran, the Republic of Turkey (TC) and Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), visits to Kyrenia Gate, Great Inn, Municipality Market, Bedesten and Selimiye Mosque in the Nicosia region were organised. 

During the visit to the Kyrenia region, the attending students first visited the Minia Cyprus Museum in the Tatlısu region. Afterwards, the students, who had the opportunity to visit Kyrenia Castle and the Shipwreck Museum, had a chance to closely examine the historical places of the TRNC. During the visit to the Famagusta region, Salamis Ruins, Muratağa, Sandallar and Atlılar Mass Graves, St. Barnabas Monastery and Othello Castle were visited.

The students, who had a pleasant time during their visit, also visited the Archeology and Nature Museum, St. Mamas Monastery, Güzelyurt Bazaar, Municipality Market, Ottoman Mansions, Cengiz Topel Monument, and Soli Ancient City in the Güzelyurt and Lefke regions. Students also visited the strawberry orchards in Yeşilırmak village and had the opportunity to pick fresh strawberries from the gardens.

At the end of the event, EMU Tourism Faculty academic staff member and Tourism Days General Coordinator Assist. Prof. Dr. Nazenin Ruso Kandemir stated that the students who visited Famagusta, Nicosia, Kyrenia, Güzelyurt and Lefke regions for the first time received detailed information about the aforesaid regions and had the opportunity to taste local delicacies in a pleasant environment.
