EMU Faculty of Law Represented in MÖHUK Symposium

Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Law Faculty Vice Dean Assist. Prof. Dr. Arzu Alibaba attended the “Law Syposium on International Private Law and Procedural Law on the 10th Year” organized by Çankaya University Law Faculty.

The symposioum commenced with the speech of Çankaya University Rector Prof. Dr. Hamdi Mollamahmutoğlu and continued respectively with the speeches of President of Union of Turkish Bar Associations, Lawyer Prof. Dr. Metin Fevzioğlu and President of  the Turkish Court  of Cassation, Ismail Rüştü Cirit. The symposium, organized on the tenth year occasion of the law taken into effect on International Private Law and Procedural Law, hosted many academic staff member from different universities throughout Turkey. 6 sessions regarding General Principles in Conflicts of Laws, Private Law Liability Rules and Internationala Procedural Law were organized in the two-day symposium. Assist. Prof. Dr. Alibaba presented the notice entitled

"Limitation of Party Autonomy Regarding the Chosen Law under Article 24 of the Turkish Private International Law and Procedural Law Act" in the “Private Law Liability Rules III and International Procedural Law II” session moderated by the Court of Cassation 22nd Civil Chamber President Seracettin Göktaş. During the session, the notion of international agreement and free discretion principle were touched upon. At the end of the session, Assist. Prof. Dr. Arzu Alibaba was presented a plaque from Prof. Dr. Feriha Bilge Tanrıbilir, Deputy Dean of Law Faculty, Çankaya University.
