EMU Faculty of Law Organises a Children’s Rights Panel in Memory of Prof. Dr. Esin Konanç

Organized in memory of Criminal Law Professor Esin Konanç, who made great contributions to the Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Faculty of Law and passed away as a result of a traffic accident in 2009, a panel on Children’s Rights was held on Monday, 20 December 2021, at EMU Faculty of Law with the great interest and participation of students. Delivering the opening speeches of the panel, EMU Vice Rector for Student Affairs Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Aktuğlu and EMU Faculty of Law Dean Prof. Dr. Turgut Turhan both stated that Esin Konanç made great contributions to EMU and emphasized the importance of the issue of "Children's Rights", on which Esin Konanç also attached great interest.

Chair of the Cyprus International University, Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Psychology Department, Prof. Dr. Biran Mertan contributed to the panel with her presentation titled "Children's Rights in 2021". Other presentations delivered were Social Services Specialist and Denkay Başel Social Development Foundation President Barış Başel’s presentation "Being a Child in Blood Culture", The Association of Universal Children’s Rights President Atty. Laden Asilzade’s presentation “Child Driven to Crime”, and Member of the Human Rights Committee of the Cyprus Turkish Bar Association, Atty. Melis Türkkal’s  presentation on "Children's Rights in the Pandemic Process". The panel came to an end after a discussion session held after the presentations.
