EMU Faculty of Communication Students Pay Separate Visits to Famagusta Municipality Dog Shelter and Rehabilitation Centre

As of the last weeks of 2018, Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Faculty of Communication, Department of Public Relations and Advertising students executed two social responsibility projects as an indicator of their sensitivity towards animals.

Faculty of Communication, Genesis IMC Agency Pays Meaningful Visit to Our Little Friends

Genesis IMC Agency, operating under EMU Faculty of Communication, Department of Public Relations and Advertising, consulted by Department Chair Assoc. Prof. Dr. Anıl Kemal Kaya and coordinated Research Assistant Mürüde Özen, organised a visit to the Famagusta Municipality Dog Shelter and Rehabilitation Centre on November 17th 2018, Saturday. With the slogan “Bring hope to their joy and joy to their hopes!” the participators of the project were closely involved with the cages of the Famagusta Municipality Dog Shelter and Rehabilitation Centre which house 450 dogs.

Mustafa Gözlüklü, a fourth-year student in the Department of Public Relations and Advertising and the president of the Genesis IMC Agency for voluntary students expressed the importance of these shelter visits and mentioned the necessity for taking care of the animals and aiding the shelter staff. Gözlüklü added that they will continue developing projects for Famagusta Municipality Dog Shelter and Rehabilitation Centre and thanked all his fellow agency members for their contribution to a very meaningful day.

Meaningful Contribution from EMU Faculty of Communication, Department of Public Relations and Advertising Students

Another social responsibility project was executed by students in scope of the Marketing Communication for Social Responsibility course given by faculty member Asst. Prof. Dr. Umut Ayman. The organising students are Saeb Ibrahim, Hulusi Osman Haklıgil, Ali Alhamrouni, Saida Kutarba and Wajdi Fawzi Sharef.

As part of the project, Famagusta Municipality Dog Shelter and Rehabilitation Centre was contacted and the centre’s needs were determined. The students participated in the Charity Sale for Stray Animals organised by the Famagusta Development Academy Club and used the raised money to procure needed vaccines for the dogs. Afterwards, on November 10th 2018 Saturday, they visited Famagusta Municipality Dog Shelter and Rehabilitation Centre to deliver the vaccines. The students visited the accommodation and treatment areas at the shelter and demonstrated their love for animals.
