EMU Faculty of Architecture Continues Its ‘Life-Long Learning’ Activities

Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Faculty of Architecture organised a seminar for its faculty members and students. Assoc. Prof.  Dr. Şükrü Tüzmen, EMU Faculty of Arts and Sciences faculty member and Research and Publication Ethics Board President, gave a seminar titled “Ethics in Academia” during the “Life-Long Learning” themed event. As the event examined ethics, different stages of production and obstacles in academia, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tüzmen discussed academic freedom, contents of the ethics and science policies and limits based on several research examples.

By asking relative questions, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tüzmen encouraged the participants into thinking about academic ethics and research authenticity. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tüzmen also conveyed his own experience, ethical approaches in universities and some examples during the seminar the aim of which was to generate awareness in academicians and graduate students. At the end of the event, EMU Faculty of Architecture Dean Prof. Dr. Özgür Dinçyürek presented Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tüzmen a complimentary certificate and a poster of the seminar as a memento. Prof. Dr. Dinçyürek also stated that collaborative efforts were to be made on maintaining contact between the Ethical Board and the Faculty of Architecture; and to solve the problems highlighted during the seminar.
