EMU Dr. Fazıl Küçük Medicine Faculty Becomes a Member of ASME

Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Dr. Fazıl Küçük Medicine Faculty has become a member of the Association for the Study of Medicine (ASME). Founded to conduct research with the purpose of improving and evaluating medical education, ASME, has been operating for more than 60 years. As a UK based organization, ASME organizes international scientific meetings, workshops and trainings every year and boasts two prestigious academic journals.

Continuous Development is Targeted

A statement released by EMU Dr. Fazıl Küçük Medicine Faculty reads as follows: “Medical education is one of the leading determinants of quality health care delivery. Today, health care standards are determined in the light of evidence-based medicine and are in a constant development according to these standards. The content of the information described in the medical education curricula is revised at the same rate. On the other hand, there is a common shared concern across the world that one cannot keep up with the developments in educational models, curriculum structure, the level of integration of technological innovations into education, and the adequacy of learning techniques.

“Acts as a Roof”

“In this respect, different approaches are developed. However, one of the major difficulties in interpreting the studies on the revisal and renewal of medical education is to evaluate the effectiveness of the methods in which the current education and the proposed models will be evaluated scientifically. For this purpose, it is of great importance to exchange views with the international community working in this field, to follow up the work done and to contribute, accordingly. Organizations such as ASME serve as a roof to cater for these needs.”
