Eastern Mediterranean University presented the funds raised from the charity event organised under the coordination of EMU Personnel Affairs Directorate on 3 April 2017 to the chair of Help Those with Cancer Association Raziye Kocaismail.
During the charity event which took place with the participation and support of all faculties, directorates and units, funds for the said association were raised from the sale of food and beverages at 37 stands set up for this purpose. The money raised during the organisation which took place with the slogan “EMU is Aware” was presented to Kocaismail by Prof. Dr. Necdet Osam.
Within the framework of the organisation, Kocaismail paid a visit to EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Osam at 10:30 a.m. on 13 April 2017 and thanked all members of EMU for their sensitivity and support towards the association.
Stating that the EMU family wholeheartedly supported the event, Prof. Dr. Osam, highlighted the existence of strong humanistic values within the university. Prof. Dr. Osam also stated that along with academic achievements, EMU pays special importance towards civic involvement as well as social responsibility. Prof. Dr. Osam also put forth the university’s readiness and willingness to support social projects as such.
Director of EMU Personnel Affairs Unit Özlem Avcı, who was also present at the said visit, stated that through the charity organisation they have once again witnessed how the EMU Family can work hand in hand to reach a meaningful target. Avcı also thanked all those who participated in and supported the event. At the end of the visit, Kocaismail presented both Prof. Dr. Osam and Avcı bouquets of flowers and unique Cyprus silk cocoon handicrafts.
