EMU Continues to Make a Difference with Its Animal-Friendly Campus

Eastern Mediterranean University Community Involvement Center has introduced another meaningful civic involvement project. Within the scope of Marketing Communication for Social Responsibility elective course coordinated by EMU Communication Faculty, Public Relations and Advertising Department Vice Chair Assist. Prof. Dr. Umut Ayman, a meaningful project was put into practice.

Within the scope of the said course, EMU Engineering Faculty, Industrial Engineering Department students Adel Omar Abdülkhaliq and Abdel-Rahman Ali Taha produced an automated feeding-water station for stray animals. The students stated that as a result of  the course which contributed to their social responsibility awareness level, they are proud to be putting their names under a project that can be implemented. The students also expressed their happiness for realising the project for EMU, which boasts an animal-friendly campus. Having completed the said project within a period of ten days, the students stated that they aim to provide stray animals with food and water in an uninterrupted fashion.

Putting forth that they have taken the first step with the development of a feeding-water station, Abdülkhaliq and Ali Taha said that “We have to help the stray animals. Living on the street contains separate difficulties both in winter and summer. We have taken the first step. Now it’s your turn. We want our project to contribute to the whole city. In this respect, we hope that the municipalities or the government take responsibility and support the automated feeding-water stations.”

The biggest support for the project was put forward by EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Necdet Osam, Communication Faculty, Public Relations and Advertising Department Chair Assoc. Prof. Dr. Anıl Kemal Kaya, Vice Department Chair Assist. Prof. Dr. Umut Ayman and Foreign Languages and English Preparatory School academic staff member Fayka Güresun. In this respect, the Feeding-Water Station will soon be activated in front of the Registrar’s Office Building.

Extending his appreciation to Assist. Prof. Dr. Ayman and project designers for realising a meaningful project as such, EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Osam also expressed his pride in observing the adoption of the animaly-friendly campus concept by students.
