EMU Communication Faculty’s Meetings with The Non-Governmental Organisations Start with KTTB

President of the Cyprus Turkish Medical Association (KTTB) Dr. Özlem Gürkut visited Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Faculty of Communication to discuss academic cooperation issues. Present at the said visit were EMU Communication Faculty Dean Prof. Dr. Senih Çavuşoğlu, Vice Dean Assoc. Prof. Dr. Aysu Arsoy, Asst. Prof. Dr. Yetin Arslan and New Media and Communication Department academic staff member Prof. Dr. Fatoş Adiloğlu.

“Correct Information should be Obtained from Reliable Sources"

Emphasizing that communication with the society is an important part of health, Dr. Gürkut said that they are open to collaborations with EMU Communication Faculty in this context. Dr. Gürkut also emphasized the importance of paving the way for healthy communication by carrying out work for the society to adopt healthy living habits and to obtain accurate information about diseases from reliable sources. Emphasizing that this is very important especially in these days, Dr. Gürkut added that they are working as the KTTB to ensure that health institutions and society are in good communication.

“Healthy Communication is a Must for a Healthy Society"

EMU Communication Faculty Dean Prof. Dr. Senih Çavuşoğlu stated that all kinds of academic contributions and cooperation with KTTB, which is an important professional organization of the society, are important for them in terms of communication education. He added that the most effective way to prevent the information pollution experienced with the Covid-19 pandemic is working hand-in-hand with healthcare professionals and health institutions. Underlining that we need a healthy communication for a healthy society, Çavuşoğlu put forth that this can only be achieved in an environment where all stakeholders come together, therefore the collaboration between EMU Communication Faculty and KTTB is important for the Turkish Cypriot community.
