EMU Civil Aviation Cabin Services Program Students Successfully Complete Mock-Up Training

Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) School of Tourism and Hospitality Management, Civil Aviation Cabin Services Associate Program students successfully completed the “Emergency Mock-up Training” organized at Pegasus Airlines Training Center in İstanbul. The mock-up training in question included topics such as fire extinguishing, use of emergency equipment, emergency scenario training in flight simulator and life-saving in water.

At the end of the training series delivered by Pegasus authorities and EMU Civil Aviation Cabin Services Program specialist academic staff member Aslı Akı, students got the chance to experience emergency situations thanks to the applied practices with the simulators, and the steps to be taken in such events. Within the scope of the training, possible situations that can be experienced in the case of a risk in the sky, a forced landing on the sea or on land were portrayed in simulated aircraft cabins, and what can be done to save the passengers was shown in practice. Realistic scenes were experienced during the trainings. In the mock-up training, the training of opening and closing the doors on the planes was carried out practically for each student. Students had the chance to experience emergency situations such as fire, discharge of pressure, forced landing, failure of landing gear or breakage during flight, in realistic simulators.

Making a statement on the matter, EMU Tourism Faculty Dean Prof. Dr. Hasan Kılıç said the 2021 – 2022 Academic Year Fall Semester has ended with the training sessions of Pegasus Airlines. Prof. Dr. Kılıç expressed that EMU Civil Aviation Cabin Services Program second year students were given training on various scenarios such as firefighting training, use of exits in an emergency landing and evacuation of passengers, and survival techniques in water during emergency landings over the sea.

Prof. Dr. Kılıç stated that the cabin crew candidates studying in EMU Civil Aviation and Cabin Services Program do not only receive theoretical training but also practical trainings to enhance their learning experiences. Prof. Dr. Kılıç thanked EMU Rector’s Office for making the mock-up training sessions possible, the Pegasus Airlines authorities and specialist academic staff member Aslı Akı for their contributions.  Prof. Dr. Kılıç added that he believes that his students, who will graduate equipped with theoretical knowledge and practical skills, will be successful in the civil aviation industry.
