EMU Celebrated Ankara Day

Ankara Day was celebrated by the largest Nigerian ethnic community entitled YORUBA through various activities in Eastern Mediterranean University. Taking its name from the ethnic outfit of YORUBA, Ankara Day is annually celebrated as part of the operations of Oodua Progressive Union, which has branches in different countries such as Switzerland, France, England.   

Within the framework of the event, King of Onda region Olanipekun Sani Bola, Yoruba Paris coordinator Alade Hakeem Akinloye and press representatives Oju Lanre Wale and Mate Abayomi Abiodun visited EMU.

Nigerian guests first visited Vice Rector for Academic Affairs Prof. Dr. Ahmet Sözen and Vice Rector for Promotion Prof. Dr. Hasan Amca. During the visit, guests received detailed information about EMU and Nigerian students studying in EMU. At the end of the visit, Prof. Dr. Sözen and Prof. Dr. Amca presented lefkara lace handicrafts to the visiting group.

Within the framework of “Ankara Day”, Nigerian students studying in EMU organised a colorful event at EMU Beach Club during which traditional dishes were cooked at Beach Club by students. The event also hosted stage performances reflecting Nigerian culture. King of Onda region Olanipekun Sani Bola and the visiting representatives attended the event with Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Amca.
