EMU Banking and Finance Department Students Represent EMU at the CFA Research Challenge

Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU), Faculty of Business and Economics, Banking and Finance Department students represented the university in the CFA Research Challenge, a competition that assesses university students’ financial analysis abilities and offers rigorous training under the guidance of experienced mentors.

 

Total of 158 students from 25 universities from Azerbaijan, Georgia and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) participated in the global competition organized in Istanbul by the CFA Society Istanbul.

 

Students competing in the competition from EMU are Banking and Finance Department 3rd and 4th year students; Lilian Mansour, Pania Amini, Otabek Sadykov, Evelina Syrovaia, Persis Koukap Nawomi, Ahmed Firas Ali, Mohamed Ettoubaji, Daniel Bassey Etop and Thandolwethu Ncongwane.

EMU Teams – Sole Participants from TRNC

The competition featured 34 teams, with EMU being the sole university from the TRNC to participate, with its two teams. Competing in the renowned CFA Challenge, the EMU teams demonstrated their expertise and abilities while carrying out in-depth research in international finance and investment, presenting their results to a panel of expert judges. The teams’ reports will be submitted to the jury on 6 January 2025, and the winners will be revealed shortly after.

 

Stating that the challenge offers the students the opportunity to develop their analytic thinking abilities, financial knowledge and team-work skills, Head of EMU Department of Banking and Finance Assist. Prof. Dr. Nigar Taşpınar underscored that they will always support their students in such international arenas where they gain experiences.
