EMU and Yıldız Technical University’s Collaboration Continues

Within the framework of the collaboration protocol between Eastern Mediterranean University and Yıldız Technical University, students of Eastern Mediterranean University Architecture Department taking ARCH 392 course organised a technical trip to İstanbul.

As part of the active collaboration between EMU and YTU’s Architecture Departments and within the framework of ARCH392 Architectural Design Studio Course IV carried out by EMU Architecture Department and MT5 Architectural Design Studio 5 Course delivered by YTU, a project on ‘housing for working class’ is being carried out within the area of İstanbul’s Tuzla District.

During the technical trip, students conducted various observations and analyses. Then, MT5 Architectural Design Studio coordinator Assoc. Prof. Dr. Doç. Dr. Candan Çınar Çıtak provided detailed information to students on the regional development, qualities of the selected land and project content.  

In this respect, the city and region chosen as a venue for the project were discussed in detail and the target towards spacial projects merging physical and social transformation has been shaped. Following the technical trip, students of ARCH 392 studio continued their involvement in the project with further analysis, maquettes and research groups and developed their own designs.

The said project taking place as part of the collaboration between the two universities has been carried out under the coordinatorship of EMU Architecture Department Chair Prof. Dr. Özgür Dinçyürek, academic staff member and studio coordinator Assoc. Prof. Dr. S. Müjdem Vural, academic staff members Emre Akbil and Ali Tanrıkul and the support of research assistants Sanaz Nezhadmasoum and Erman Berkay.
