The last stage of the “Book Tree” Project organised by Eastern Mediterranean University in collaboration with T&T Airport was completed at Ercan Airport.
With the purpose of raising awareness regarding book reading, a banner containing the hope for the new year becoming a book year was put up at Ercan Airport for a period of one month. In addition to this, EMU and T&T Airport distributed books to 100 children with the aim of activating their awareness regarding the benefits of reading books. The project was finalised on 11 January 2016 with the donation of the books exhibited on the ‘Book Tree’ to various libraries in need of books.
The project has been brought to life with the purpose of raising awareness regarding the decreasing importance of reading books. The said tree was formed by 500 books made available by EMU Özay Oral Library. A slogan of #NewYearBookYear was also placed next to the tree to raise awareness about the project through social media.
