Department of Elementary Education Organizes Activity for New Students

The Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Education Faculty, Elementary School Education Department organized an orientation activity for new students, providing them with information about the university and department as well as allowing them the opportunity to meet with department staff.

Dean of the EMU Education Faculty Prof. Dr. Ülker Vancı Osam also attended the event that attracted a great deal of student attention. Students, staff, research assistants and executive assistants from the Pre-School Teacher Education, Elementary School Teacher Education, Social Sciences Teacher Education and Elementary School Mathematics Teacher Education programs also attended the event.

Head of the Elementary School Education Department Prof. Dr. Elif Yeşim Üstün started her speech by welcoming the students to the department. Prof. Dr. Üstün continued by providing information about the department and highlighting the importance of a good attendance. Prof. Dr. Üstün also recommended that the students make use of every university resource, noting that the staff will continue to do everything in their power to ensure that the students develop in the best way possible. Prof. Dr. Üstün’s speech was followed by a speech from Dean of the EMU Education Faculty Prof. Dr. Ülker Vancı Osam, who stated that the students chose the most sacred profession of all, congratulating them for choosing the teaching profession. Prof. Dr. Osam noted that educating future generations in the best way possible is of the utmost importance and recommended that students carry out lots of reading to improve themselves and decide about their ethical principles and stance.

In addition, Elementary School Teacher Education Department staff Prof. Dr. Ayşe Işık Gürşimşek, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Süheyla Üçışık Erbilen, Assist. Prof. Dr. Süha Kocakuşak, Assist. Prof. Dr. Eda Kargı and Assist. Prof. Dr. Bülent Kızılduman, gave short speeches talking about their field of study and wishing students the best of luck in their studies.
