Construction Sector Was Discussed At EMU “Agenda On Vocational Training” Programme

Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) School of Computing and Technology Teaching Staff member Ramadan Iyikal was hosted at the “Agenda on Vocational Training” programme which was held under the moderation of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Ilkan, Director of EMU School of Computing and Technology. ‘Construction sector’ was discussed at the relevant session of the programme.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Ilkan made a speech at the beginning of the programme emphasizing the importance of vocational training in our country. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ilkan stated that middle craftsmen are needed in the construction sector as well as the engineers; it must be a legal obligation to have technicians at construction sites. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ilkan said that “the unemployment problem in out country can be solved through vocational training”.

Later on in the programme, construction stages of a building were examined and experts from which field were employed at different stages of construction had been explained. EMU School of Computing and Technology teaching staff Ramadan Iyikal explained the current stages of construction process in detail. In addition to the technicians and engineers that should work at construction stages, Iyikal also provided detailed information regarding the permissions, inspections and quality controls. Iyikal highlighted that the importance of technicians in constructions is found out. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ilkan, then, discussed the necessity for vocational training. Additionally, information about the construction tests required was provided.
