Collective Labour Agreement Signed in EMU

A collective labour agreement concerning Eastern Mediterranean University’s (EMU) staff in administrative services category as well as contracted and permanent staff and workers, staff in EMU's Tourism Revolving Fund, Internal Services Revolving Fund and Continuing Education Center Revolving Fund categories has been signed by EMU Personnel Union (EMU PER-SEN), the Northern Cyprus Education Foundation, Board of Trustees (EMU BOT) and EMU Rector's Office at a ceremony organised for the said purpose.

EMU BOT President Dr. Erdal Özcenk, EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Aykut Hocanın, EMU PER-SEN President Erdal Altun and Vice President Kemal Karabulut signed the protocol. Present at the ceremony were EMU BOT Member Ersun Kutup, Vice Rector for Social and Cultural Affairs Assoc. Prof. Dr. Deniz İşçioğlu, Vice Rector for Administrative and Technical Affairs Assoc. Prof. Dr. Serhan Şensoy and union officials. The agreement in question will be valid for two years.

“I Hope the Agreement Yields Good Outcomes for Us All"

Speaking at the ceremony, EMU BOT President Dr. Erdal Özcenk wished the collective labour agreement, finalised as a result of a considerable effort, to be beneficial for EMU and its employees.

EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Aykut Hocanın underlined that from the moment they took office, they observed that administrative services personnel and workers had various problems and they worked towards solving them. Emphasizing that as the Rector, they act to protect the employee's rights as much as the union, Prof. Dr. Hocanın said, "I would like to state that we will take the necessary steps altogether to take our university further".

EMU PER-SEN President Erdal Altun stated that after they have been elected as the authorized union in November, they achieved the collective labour agreement, which is very important for employees, with good outcomes. Altun thanked everyone who contributed to the preparation of the said agreement and expressed his hope that the agreement yields good outcomes for all parties. The ceremony ended after a group photo.
