Career Development Program Taking Place at EMU

Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Alumni Communications and Career Research Directorate has added another collaboration with a Faculty to the collaborations settled during the year to provide career support for students, helping them with their employability and making a career choice to their satisfaction. Based on data from the business world and universities, the EMU Alumni Communications and Career Research Directorate has included prospective graduates in their ‘Career Development Program’ in order to develop their social as well as their academic abilities. The program that will last until the 23rd of May 2017 will include workshops with experienced academicians and experts, covering topics such as writing a curriculum vitae, cover page and a letter of intent.

Turan Değirmencioğlu expressed that individuals taking into consideration their personal characteristics and pursuing jobs accordingly play an important role in the path to a successful career. Değirmencioğlu indicated that the first step of convincing someone you have never met before to call you for an interview in a competitive environment is your curriculum vitae stating that a good curriculum vitae must be focused towards the job, easy to understand and simply expressed. Speaking before the workshop, EMU Tourism Faculty Dean Prof. Dr. Hasan Kılıç noted that the knowledge of how to write a good curriculum vitae that shows the skills and competence of an individual will lead to a big advantage in employment, stating that they will continue to work the Alumni Communications and Career Research Directorate.

In his speech, EMU Alumni Communications and Career Research Director Derviş Ekşici stated that university life includes many relationships; academic, administrative and human relations. Ekşici went on to state that students are at the core of the academic dimension noting that their Directorate greatly values student satisfaction. Ekşici stated: “Before their graduation, we have prepared for our students an Alumni Communications and Career Research Directorate Career Development Program (Curriculum Vitae, Cover page and letter of intent interview techniques, live interviews, personal marketing and career planning) which we will implement and further develop.”
