Ayer Altun Tennis Tournament Completed at EMU

Ayer Altun Tennis Tournament organized by the Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU), Sports Affairs Directorate is completed. The tournament attended by athletes from the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), Republic of Türkiye, Iran, Kirgizstan, Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Morocco and Nigeria was held in +18 Single Men, +18 Single Women, +35 Single Men, +35 Single Women, Double Men, Double Women and Mixed Doubles categories. Over 100 athletes participated in the tournament which took place at the EMU Tennis Courts.

 

Minister Oğuz Attended the Finals Night

Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), Minister of Internal Affairs Dursun Oğuz attended the finals nights of the tournament held on Friday, 7 March 2025. Andia Salari took the first place in +18 Women’s category, followed by Maniya Bagheri in second place and, Deniz Altın and Yasmin Kamyar as semifinalists. In +18 Men’s category, Abar Esat finished the tournament in first place followed by Doğuş Dede in second place. Kasta Mohammedzade and Atakan Özen completed the event as semifinalists.

 

The semifinalists of the +35 Men’s category were Ali Argana and Aydın Kayol. On the other hand, the top ranking athlete in this category was Andrey Polishehuk and the runner-up was Mariayo Morino. Furthermore, in +35 Women’s category, Kateryna Shynkarova and Kristina Shimdt completed the tournament as semifinalists. Ece Balcı took the first place followed by Maryem Mahdavi in second.

Can-Atakan and Vitaly-Aleksey became the semifinalists of Double Men’s category. Aydın-Mania completed the tournament in first place and Atakan-Zahra in second place. In Double Women’s category, Övgü-Bahar and Kristina-Zlata completed the event as semifinalists. On the other hand, Manya-Meryem ranked the first and Katya-Anya second in the same category. In Mixed Double’s category, Ali-Arzu and Sertel-Kateryna completed the tournament as semifinalists. Andia-Andrey ranked the first followed by Yasmin-Aydın in second place.

 

The final matches were officiated by late EMU personnel member Ayer Altun’s daughter Deniz Altun. The ranking athletes received their awards from TRNC Minister of Internal Affairs Dursun Oğuz, EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Kılıç, EMU Board of Trustees (VYK) Member Beyhan Gürgöze, Sports Affairs Directorate Coordinator Aydın Kayol and, Özlem Altun and Erdal Altun, the members of Altun family.
