Assoc. Prof. Dr. Senih Çavusoğlu from EMU to Participate in The 2018 European Year Of Cultural Heritage

Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Department of Visual Arts and Visual Communication Design Chair Assoc. Prof. Dr. Senih Çavuşoğlu has been invited to participate in the “Amphorae” project organized by Europa Nostra and the Representation of the European Commission in Cyprus. The project will be taking place within the scope of the 2018 European Year of Cultural Heritage.

Europa Nostra was founded on the 29th November 1963 in Paris. For over 50 years, they have celebrated, protected and lobbied for cultural heritage. Europa Nostra is today recognized as the most representative heritage organization in Europe with members from over 40 countries.

The 2018 European Year of Cultural Heritage celebrates diverse cultural heritage across Europe at national, regional and local levels. The aim of the European Year of Cultural Heritage is to encourage more people to discover and engage with Europe's cultural heritage, and to reinforce a sense of belonging to a common European space. The slogan for the year is: Our heritage: where the past meets the future.

Cypriot terracotta amphorae

Within the scope of the “Amphorae” project 12 contemporary artists were delivered Cypriot terracotta amphorae in August 2018 which they will be decorating. In September 2018 short video interviews will be carried out with the artists and the decorated amphorae will be collected. The amphorae will be exhibited at the EU House in Nicosia in October 2018 and in Vienna, Austria between the 6th and 8th of December 2018 as part of the closing ceremony of the European Year of Cultural Heritage.
