Animal Lovers in EMU Participate in a Meaningful Activity

Members of Eastern Mediterranean University, Animal Rescue Club took part in Famagusta Youth Center’s activity for making kennels for stray animals.  Participated by a crowded group of individuals, the event took place in Famagusta Walled City. During the said organisation, a number of kennels were constructed and placed in various spots within the city including EMU.

Within the framework of a collaboration protocol settled between EMU and Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources, EMU Animal Rescue Club previously introduced a project entitled “Neuter, Vaccinate and Let Live” based on the idea of protection consisting of different stages, namely neutering, vaccinating, tagging and releasing stray animals back into their surroundings to live out their life on the campus. Through the valuable support of Famagusta Veterinary Department, regular health care checks have also been carried out on campus animals.

Students, trainers and advisors of EMU Animal Rescue Club expressed their pride in being a part of an animal-friendly and socially-aware institution. In this respect, members of the said club highlighted the importance of measures and possibilities both taken and provided by EMU Rector’s Office. At the end of the organisation, members of the same club invited the participation of all stakeholders within the city and on campus for the betterment of animal welfare.
