Animal Friendly EMU Makes a Difference Once Again

The Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) known for its animal friendly campus and projects that value people and nature has once again shown its difference.

A female Labrador cross breed dog named Umut was run over after an unlucky incident on the Güzelyurt – Nicosia main road two and a half months ago. After being noticed by a group of animal lovers the five and a half month old dog was operated on by Vet Tuğşad Ebeoğlu, and one of her legs was amputated. Umut, whose expenses were met by the association Silent Ones, was in need of a warm and loving home. Immediately after hearing about the situation EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Necdet Osam adopted Umut. With her new name Can Dost, Umut is now at EMU, her lifelong home.

Now part of the EMU family Can Dost will be living at the EMU Rector’s Office under the care of EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Necdet Osam. By acquiring all of the equipment needed for Can Dost, Prof. Dr. Osam created an environment suitable for a dog to live. Can Dost has started her new, happy and peaceful life at the EMU Rector’s Office.
