9th EMU International Career Days Continue with Faculty of Health Sciences

Within the scope of the 9th International Career Days organized by the Eastern Mediterranean University Alumni Communication and Career Research Directorate (EMU-MIKA), EMU Health Sciences Faculty students continue to meet online with health professionals.

A Presentation on "Orofacial Pain"

Hasan Kalyoncu University Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Department academic staff member Assist. Prof. Dr. Ayşenur Tuncer made an online presentation on "Orofacial Pain". Many faculty members and students attended the event moderated by EMU Health Sciences Faculty Dean Prof. Dr. Mehtap Malkoç and the English-medium Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Department Coordinator Assoc. Prof. Dr. Gözde İyigün.

As an Orthopedic Manual Physiotherapist specializing in Temporomandibular Dysfunction Syndrome (TMDS) and TMJ rehabilitation,  Assist. Prof. Dr. Tuncer shared her local and international career experiences with the participants. Assist. Prof. Dr. Tuncer, who served as an international visiting lecturer at Boston University and Detroit Mercy University and TMJ and a rehabilitation CE course instructor and a lecturer at Harvard University School of Dentistry,  stated that her clinical and research interests include the effectiveness of orthopedic manual therapy, neuromuscular pain, TMDS rehabilitation, headache, sleep disorders and swallowing problems.

In her presentation on "Orofacial Pain", Assist. Prof. Dr. Tuncer emphasized that temporomandibular joint dysfunction, observed in 44-75% of the population worldwide, is gradually increasing. Stating that all the structures in the body are interrelated and that the most important structure providing this is the fascia, Asst. Prof. Dr. Tuncer emphasized that the evaluation should not be limited to the temporomandibular joint, and that all other structures related to this zone should be evaluated comprehensively, and that the success of treatment can be increased with a multidisciplinary team consisting of dentists, physiotherapists, neurologists, ear-nose-throat specialists and psychiatrists.

Example of Dietitian Profession Abroad

As part of the 9th International Career Days, Dr. Dtt. Nilay Dönmez Khan made two presentations in Turkish and English on "The Case of Dietician Profession Abroad-Canada". In both of her speeches, Khan talked about the regions of Canada, where she continues her education and career, and the borders that cover the dietitian's field of work in these regions.
