Organised by Eastern Mediterranean University Sports Affairs Directorate, “EMU International Futsal Cup of Nation” is taking place in Eastern Mediterranean university with the participation of men’s futsal teams from 26 countries and women’s fustal teams from 7 countries. Group matches are being held between 27 March and 9 April 2015 whilst quarter and half finals as well as finals will take place on 13, 15 and 17 April 2015.
Men’s teams will be competing in four groups and women’s teams in two during the matches taking place at EMU Lala Mustafa Paşa Sports Center. Following the group matches, men’s teams qualifying for the first two places will play the quarter finals and through the method of cross matching, teams qualifying for half finals will be determined. Following the half finals, winning teams will take part in the finals. The remaining teams will play against each other for the third place. In women’s teams, the teams qualifying for the first and second place will play half finals through the cross matching method. The winning teams will play the finals while the remaining ones will compete against each other for the third place.
The official opening of “EMU International Futsal Cup of Nation” took place at Lala Mustafa Paşa Sports Center at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, 27 March 2015. In the opening adress of the event, EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Necdet Osam wished good luck to all participating teams and stated that as an international university, Eastern Mediterranean University supports the belief that sports enhance the communication between humans and strengthen team spirit.
