Students of EMU Donate 48 Units of Blood for Thalassemia Patients

A blood donation campaign organised by the students of Eastern Mediterranean University, Health Sciences Faculty, Health Management Department in collaboration with Cyprus Turkish Thalassemia Association and Famagusta Medical Center Hospital took place on 30 and 31 may 2016.  During the campaign which was organised within the framework of the course titled “Communication in Health Services”, 48 units of  blood were donated by students. 

Academic staff member delivering the course titled “Communication in Health Services” Çiğdem Duvarcı stated that the campaign aimed to cater for the routine blood demands of Thalassemia patients and to raise social awareness levels of the students. Duvarcı added that through the campaign, students as prospective health managers took an active role in community services through the use of appropriate means of communication. Duvarcı also expressed her hope to organise further similar events as such. 

Stating her amazement with the sensitivity level of the students of Eastern Mediterranean University, Duvarcı extended her appreciation to all blood donors, members of EMU community and all organisations supporting the campaign.
