| A continous committee is formed for the congresses "Advances in Civil Engineering" (Pls. see COMMITTEES). | During ACE2000, a Civil Engineering exhibition will be held to give an opportunity to constructors, suppliers, designers, and all organizations in the construction industry in Cyprus for presenting themselves. Exhibition will take place a) in Salamis Hotel during the congress time, and b) around the Civil Engineering Building of Eastern Mediterranean University between 30OCT00 and 5NOV00. The first conference
on Advances in Civil Engineering, started under the pioneership of Middle
East Technical University (METU) and Eastern
Mediterranean University (EMU), was held in Gazimagusa, Northern Cyprus
in 1993. The second and third conferences, which have seen the entrance
of Bogazici University (BU) and Istanbul
Technical University (ITU) in the organization structure, were held
in Istanbul, in 1995 and in Ankara 1997, respectively.
The fourth conference is now scheduled for 1-3 November 2000 in Gazimagusa, Northern Cyprus, organized jointly by EMU, BU, ITU and METU. The main aim of the conference is to bring together and enhance dialogue among worldwide professionals and researchers from all fields of civil engineering to discuss the emerging important issues in civil engineering on the brink of the third millennium. |

Conference themes will
include but are not limited to the following topics on civil engineering:
STRUCTURAL AND EARTHQUAKE ENGINEERING
The organizing committee hopes that the first six themes will provide a tour of the major advances in all fields of civil engineering, and the last theme will entail a discussion of the expectations for civil engineering in the third millennium. |

Contributors are invited
to submit original papers on the conference themes, to be presented at
the conference and published in the Proceedings. Summaries of the papers
will be reviewed by the Scientific Committee.
Extended abstracts not longer than 1000 words, should be forwarded to the correspondence addresses by the latest submission date by mail or by e-mail. Two copies of each summary should be submitted. Summaries should be typed as double spaced. |
