Full – Time Academic Staff Position in Architectural Design, Department of Architecture – Faculty of Architecture.

Job Description

The Department of Architecture is looking to appoint a creative, self-motivated individual to primarily contribute to and support our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in architecture. The primary responsibilities for this position include undergraduate and graduate teaching, scholarly research and publication, developing curriculum in the field of architecture, and serving on departmental council, appropriate departmental and university committees, and advising to students.

Qualifications

Applications are invited from persons who have a professionally recognized qualification in architecture and a relevant postgraduate degree. Candidates must be able to develop and sustain research and creative practice. All candidates will be expected to teach Architectural Design and contribute towards undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. Previous professional practice and teaching experience is considered to be an advantage.

The candidate should have expertise in one or more of the disciplines of architectural design, sustainable design, architectural technologies, construction, conservation / restoration and bring to bear experience in the architectural design. He/she may also be expected to contribute to teaching across disciplines within the Faculty of Architecture.

The candidate should be able to demonstrate a commitment to high quality teaching and would be expected to have current, relevant experience of professional practice in the private, public or voluntary sectors. Membership of an appropriate profession is desirable.

Term of Employment

EMU offers a competitive salary. The initial appointment is for eleven months starting September 15, 2008, renewable for two years, contingent upon successful performance.
